A highlight of the season in Embleton is the carols on the green; when many villagers and some from further afield gather to sing together, while The Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel warms them up afterwards with Christmas treats.

Last year, the hotel also took part in the warm hub scheme and enjoyed the company of some local residents looking to gather together and warm bodies and soul.

This year, the Christmas menu has been was created with a focus on delicious homemade rich food at a price designed to offer affordable luxurious and delicious dishes. The menu, available up to Christmas Eve, offeres two courses at £24 and three courses at £29.

The Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel is part of a small family run chain with another hotel The Sunningdale in Bamburgh.

They have had great success building family run well loved hotels with a team of staff whose love and care shines through to all customers.

At the Sunningdale, a warm and friendly welcome awaits guests looking for a modern comfortable base to explore Northumberland. A small, cosy restaurant specialises in homemade warming dishes and is open to residents and non-residents.

In 2021, Paul and Clair Mather took over the Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel in Embleton, with an aim to become not only a tourist destination but also an important part of the local community. There is a members dining club offering rewards to locals each month and a newly refurbished bar is host to local brewery ales such as Anarchy White Rat - they are also popular stockists of Timothy Taylors Landlord.

Paul said “We hope to offer locals a great place to meet with friends and family – a lot of whom work in the hotel.

“We have log burners to sit by all day while enjoying a delicious local artisan coffee from the Bean Genie and perhaps a mince pie, or some homemade cake.”
