11 pictures as Wooler lights up for Christmas

Wooler has been lit up for Christmas despite the difficulties caused by Covid-19.

Volunteers who took the time to prepare and put up the illuminations have been thanked by Wooler Parish Council.

Chairman Mark Mather praised the efforts of Cllr Robert Donkin in particular.

He also thanked Mr and Mrs Davidson for the donation of a Christmas tree and Mr and Mrs Ferguson for their £400 donation.

Cllr Mather said: “We ought to be incredibly proud that we have continued putting the lights up as normal even though it took more organising to make sure we were Covid safe.”

Cllr Caroline Cumming added: “I have had nothing but praise for them from the people I’ve spoken to.”

Some spare lights have been given to the Old Vicarage residential home.

Residents are also now being encouraged to light up their gardens or windows, with a £20 prize voucher to be spent on Wooler High Street to the winner.
