Kia has announced a recall of its Sorento large SUV after identifying a potential fault with the car’s eCall system.
The eCall function is designed to operate in the event of a collision and transmit data to the emergency call centre. This usually includes the vehicle identification number (VIN). However, in affected models, if an airbag is deployed the VIN would not be transmitted.
Kia said it was not aware of any injuries or accidents caused by the fault but it is recalling all affected models in order to have the eCall system reset.
The recall affects around 1,000 of the latest Sorento models built between 1 September and 14 December 2020.
