AN Alnwick doctor this week ended all the speculation about his stepson’s romantic links with film star Hayley Mills, when he revealed to the Gazette that the couple have no plans to marry.

Dr Paul Arnison-Newgass of Swansfield House, Alnwick, was referring to a 24-year-old Marcus MacLaine, a songwriter, who has been living with 39-year-old Miss Mills, a mother of two for the past two years.

Dr Arnison-Newgass told the Gazette: “They have no plans to get married – none at all. In fact they are both fairly fed up with all the fuss.”

The couple have lived together for two years, but everyone knows that, said Dr Arnison-Newgass, who has consulting rooms in Infirmary Drive, Alwnick.

Marcus, who lives in London, is the son of Dr Arnison-Newgass’s second wife Oriole, who works as a librarian at the Sterling Winthrop research centre at Alnwick.

Some of the speculation has been aroused by the fact that last year Miss Mills spent Easter with Marcus’ parents at Alnwick.
