The annual costumed event was held this week every summer from 1969 to 2007, when it sadly bade farewell.
Over the years, it drew in large crowds to watch the parades, the crowning of the fair queen, the ‘Militia’ ducking wenches in the Market Place, strongman competition and all manner of fun and games, recreating the medieval trading and agricultural fairs.
A fascinating documentary about its history, made with the help of local people, will be screened at Alnwick Playhouse on Saturday.
Here are some reminders of those great times.
