Northumberland care home to close, leaving 16 residents in need of alternative accommodation

A Northumberland care home is to close, with 16 residents having to find a new place to live.

The home was deemed to ‘require improvement’ at its most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

In a statement, staff said: “Grovewood House has been a care home for close to 40 years and has been under new management since last summer. The staff team have been working closely with Northumberland Council and the CQC and were on course to get a ‘good’ rating at the next inspection so the decision by the owners to close was a huge blow.

“The closure news was not only devastating to the hard working and caring staff of the home but also the residents and their families.”
