The 13 areas of Northumberland with the highest number of Covid-19 cases from January 17-23

Alnwick council ward has recorded the most new Covid-19 cases in Northumberland over the past week, figures show.

The ward, which covers an extended area including Alnmouth and Lesbury, also has among the highest case rates.

Wards in Berwick and Hexham also have among the highest case numbers and rates.

Data from Public Health England, supplemented by the ONS, shows the Covid-19 rate for Northumberland was 232 per 100,000 on January 23.

There were 50 positive cases in the Alnwick ward in the week up to January 23 and the rate is 505 per 100,000.

There were 743 positive cases in the week to that date.

The figures reveal a marginal fall in the rate and number of cases over the past week. On January 16 the rate was 249.8 and there were 800 confirmed positive cases.

Here are the 13 areas of Northumberland with the highest number of weekly cases.

There were 48 positive cases in Hexham East where the rate is 1,047 per 100,000.
There were 30 positive cases in Berwick West with Ord where the rate is 719 per 100,000.
There were 22 positive cases in Berwick North where the rate is 479 per 100,000.
There were 22 positive cases in Berwick East where the rate is 454 per 100,000.
There were 19 positive cases in Prudhoe South where the rate is 337 per 100,000
There were 19 positive cases in Hexham Central with Acomb where the rate is 421 per 100,000.
There were 17 positive cases in Norham and Islandshires where the rate is 404 per 100,000.
There were 17 positive cases in Prudhoe North where the rate is 317 per 100,000.
There were 17 positive cases in Druridge Bay ward where the rate is 261 per 100,000.
There were 16 positive cases in South Blyth where the rate is 309 per 100,000.
There were 16 positive cases in Cramlington West where the rate is 284 per 100,000.
There were 16 positive cases in Seghill with Seaton Delaval where the rate is 261 per 100,000.
