Latest data from Public Health England, published by Northumberland County Council, reveals the county-wide infection rate was 261.7 positive cases per 100,000 on December 29 – its highest level since early November.
The England average is 374 positive cases per 100,000.
Northumberland is now in the highest Tier 4 ‘stay at home’ level of coronavirus restrictions.
Here are the 13 areas with rates higher than the England average.
There were 53 positive cases in Haltwhistle ward in the seven days up to December 29.
The infection rate is 1,099 per 100,000.
2. Prudhoe South
There were 42 positive cases in Prudhoe South. The rate is 746 per 100,000.
There were 32 positive cases in Corbridge ward. The rate is 735 per 100,000.
4. Prudhoe North
There were 34 positive cases in Prudhoe North. The rate is 633 per 100,000.
