Through Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s charity called Bright, donations to the Standing By Northumbria appeal will go towards supporting staff and volunteers’ health and wellbeing, and improving patients’ experiences during these challenging times.

People are also being given the opportunity to make donations in kind such as small toiletries and food to eat on the go.

All donations will go directly to where help is needed most and Bright is urging anyone who makes a donation to highlight this on social media with the hashtag #StandingByNorthumbria.

The trust’s chief executive, Sir James Mackey, said: “Our teams are working incredibly hard, alongside our partners in primary care, local authorities, social care and nursing homes, as well as those caring for people in their own homes, to go above and beyond the call of duty to respond to the increasing demands on our services.

“We are immensely grateful and overwhelmed by the support we have already received from individuals, local communities and businesses and we would urge anyone considering donating to the NHS to do so through an official route, such as our Standing By Northumbria appeal.

“Donations through our Bright charity at any time of the year make a massive difference to our staff, volunteers and patients – something which is extremely important now, and in the weeks and months ahead.
