Northumberland parish council to meet via Skype due to coronavirus outbreak

A Northumberland parish council is embracing modern technology to proceed with business during the coronavirus epidemic.

Wooler Parish Council usually meets at Glendale Middle School but will instead hold its next monthly meeting on Monday, March 23 via Skype.

Mark Mather, parish council chairman, said: “Due to the current situation relating to coronavirus the parish council has decided that all monthly meetings should be held via Skype until further notice.”

The parish council always holds its meetings in public but has decided to make an exception this month.

“As this is a new procedure, we would ask that this month, we do not try and give members of the public access to the meeting via the Skype app although we hope to be able to offer this facility for the next meeting,” said Coun Mather.
