Christmas shopping, meeting friends outdoors or exercise – Here’s a list of things that you can do in Tier 3 this weekend

With the North East still in Tier 3 Covid-19 restrictions, here is a list of things that you can do over the weekend which you couldn’t do in lockdown.

Following the end of England’s national lockdown on December 2, the region found itself in Tier 3 – meaning residents will be living under the strongest measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Despite the tough restrictions, measures are still slightly relaxed in comparison to the lockdown in November.

The Government are set to review the tier system on Wednesday, December 16 meaning that this weekend could be the last that the North East spends in the highest tier.

This is a list of things you can do under Tier 3 restrictions this weekend.

Here is a list of things you can do this weekend that you couldn’t in lockdown:

Christmas shopping

All non-essential shops were allowed to reopen across the country on December 2, providing a boost to retailers ahead of the Christmas period.

It means that with just under two weeks to go before Christmas, you can go out and get the remaining presents that you need – just don’t leave it too late.

Meet friends and family in outdoor spaces

Under Tier 3 restrictions, you cannot meet anyone outside of your household or support bubble in a private garden or at most outdoor public venues however there are some exceptions to the rule.

Providing you stick to the “rule of six”, you can meet family and friends who you do not live with in places such as parks, playgrounds, the beach or outdoor sports courts and facilities.

Head to the gym

You don’t have to wait until January to begin your fitness journey, despite the Tier 3 restrictions, you can still visit the gym and leisure centres.

Outdoor sports such as tennis and football are also permitted to take place however indoor activities and exercise classes remain banned under the toughest restrictions.

Pamper yourself

It’s been a tough year so why not treat yourself to a new look.

Covid-19 guidelines must be followed at all times and some treatments may not be available to prevent the spread of the virus.
