Virtual reality helps Wooler students learn from field trips around the world
Glendale Middle School pupils have been taken on virtual field trips around the world.
Oliver Stringer from Prime VR came along to show students the technology.
Year 5 pupils visited the polar regions, Year 6 scaled Everest, Year 7 went to the trenches of World War One and the rainforest and Y8 were able to visit China and also see the impact of climate change.
Teacher Sarah Milburn said: “Due to the pandemic our usual trips and visits have been put on hold for over a year so this was the perfect opportunity for our children to visit somewhere different.
"All of the visits were linked to our current learning, previous learning or future learning and gave the children the chance to visit places we could only dream about.
"The children gained so much knowledge from each experience, for example Y6's study on mountains took them to base camp Everest, Everest summit, K2, the Matterhorn and more. The children can't wait to do this again.”
