Headteacher to retire after 17 years at the helm of Alnwick's Duchess’s Community High School
The head teacher of Alnwick’s high school is to retire at the end of the academic year.
Maurice Hall, head at Duchess’s Community High School (DCHS), announced the news in a letter to parents.
He wrote: “I am writing to let you know that I have decided to retire at the end of this academic year.
“I have been head teacher of our remarkable school for 17 years and feel this is the right time to move on.
“After several years of unique change for our community I believe we are very much on the right path for our next head teacher to lead the school to even greater things.
“Clearly there is still lots for me to do this year and I will continue to do whatever I can to move DCHS forward.
“I’ll write in more detail in the coming months about how much I’ve valued my role and what I feel we have achieved together.”
