At St Batholomew’s Church Fair, pupils in the choir at Whittingham C of E Primary School sang a medley of songs and one of its talented young musicians did a trumpet solo.

While the funds will help towards the general running of the church, some will be put towards repairs of the church clock.

The annual up-keep of the clock is usually in the region of £200 per year just to service.

However, there is currently a problem with one of the gears in the clock mechanism and the church is awaiting a quote for the repair which could be in the region of over a £1,000. The money raised since Easter for the clock fund is around £220.

The church dates back to the 12th century, although it was extensively rebuilt in the mid-19th century.
