The co-operative, made up of over 100 members from across Northumberland the Borders, plans to build four new silos.
Each silo would have a 600 tonne capacity, measure 23m in height and have a diameter of 10.5m.

Agents George F White, in a planning report on behalf of Coastal Grains, state: “The proposed development represents a significant financial investment into an established and thriving rural business.
“It will increase efficiency and subsequently allow for improved services to existing clients and will assist in attracting new clients to the business, sustaining the local workforce and supporting the local economy.”
The business says there would be no obstruction to the public right of way during construction or after implementation of the new development.

She said: “We feel that noise, dust and light pollution are a major issue, and with further development this will become even more unbearable.
“Coastal Grains have become a more full time site rather than seasonal, when harvest season is upon us the site runs 24 hours a day seven days a week.
“With every new addition of silos, dryers and fan units the noise and dust levels are more disruptive to our daily lives.”

The proposal has received the support of Coun Guy Renner-Thompson, local member on Northumberland County Council.
He said: “I wholeheartedly support this application for the expansion of Coastal Grains.
“Coastal Grains is an important employer for the surrounding community, and it provides a valuable grain storage and marketing service to its farmer members.
