Seahouses B&B strikes gold at the North East Tourism Awards

St Cuthbert’s House, in Seahouses, run by Jeff and Jill Sutheran, has won the B&B category in the North East Tourism Awards.
It was also highly commended for the Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Award.

Hide AdAn online ceremony was held due to coronavirus restrictions which are causing major concerns for the county’s tourism-related businesses.
Jeff said: “The North East Tourism Awards play a very important part in raising the profile of tourism in our region.
“It's an important part of our fragile rural economy, and we are so pleased to be recognised as being amongst the best of the fabulous tourism businesses in our region.
“These are very difficult times for tourism businesses, with no visitors, and no income.

Hide Ad“But we look forward to a bright future when restrictions are lifted, when people look to take exciting breaks in this wonderful country of ours.
“Northumberland is well placed to lead the way as the destination of choice. We believe good things will come out of the present difficulties!”
There were eight gold winners from Northumberland, out of 15 categories, with the county once again having more winners than any other area in the region.
Winners will now automatically be put forward to the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2020.

Hide AdSt Cuthbert’s House B&B won the VistEngland B&B of the year category in 2014 and 2017.
It has won the North East Tourism Awards on numerous occasions.
