Jeff said: “The North East Tourism Awards play a very important part in raising the profile of tourism in our region.

“It's an important part of our fragile rural economy, and we are so pleased to be recognised as being amongst the best of the fabulous tourism businesses in our region.

“These are very difficult times for tourism businesses, with no visitors, and no income.

“But we look forward to a bright future when restrictions are lifted, when people look to take exciting breaks in this wonderful country of ours.

Northumberland is well placed to lead the way as the destination of choice. We believe good things will come out of the present difficulties!”

There were eight gold winners from Northumberland, out of 15 categories, with the county once again having more winners than any other area in the region.

Winners will now automatically be put forward to the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2020.
