He said: “The 2020 BETA Export Award is a wonderful milestone for Bedmax in our 20th year.

“Exporting shavings for horse bedding requires a lot of patience and confidence in the quality of your product and I’d like to thank our sales, production and marketing teams for the enormous effort they have put into achieving our export growth.

“Being part of the great British heritage of world-class equestrian excellence has helped but it’s the Bedmax team’s unstinting determination and hard work that has won us this award. Thank you to the team and thank you to BETA for recognising their success.”

The Ceris Burns Equestrian Export Award is awarded annually to the company that can show a substantial and sustained increase in export activity over a three-year period.

Judges praised Bedmax’s commitment to ensuring that face-to-face meetings with international customers were held at least twice a year.

They were impressed by their foreign-language brochures, international advertising programmes and the Chinese and Arabic language sections on their website.

Bedmax was the first company in the UK to produce tailor-made, dust-free shavings for horses. Dust is a major contributor to respiratory health problems in the stable. Over 20 per cent of Bedmax sales are now distributed across the globe.
