Valentine's Day takeaway could serve up introduction to new Alnmouth restaurant

Although closed to customers, in line with the rest of the region’s hospitality industry, chefs and kitchen staff at the new hotel have put together a delicious @Home option for those wishing to sidestep and cooking duties on the most romantic night of the year.

Featuring a range of luxury dishes including Twice Baked Lobster Souffle, Fillet of Venison Wellington and White Chocolate and Sloe Gin Cheesecake, the delicious menu gives couples the chance to enjoy restaurant quality food in the comfort of their own dining room.

The three course meal is priced at £26.50 per person, (with £5 supplements for selected dishes) and can be pre-ordered for collection.

As well as offering a big treat for tastebuds, the Valentine’s Day menu could also serve up an introduction to The Whittling House for many, given that the latest jewel in the Northumberland coast’s hospitality landscape was only able to open for a few days before the last lockdown of 2020.

A stylish new boutique hotel and restaurant nestled in the heart of the village, The Whittling House is promising to offer a special kind of contemporary luxury for guests, boasting 10 blissful bedrooms, an elegant restaurant showcasing the very best local produce and a welcoming bar just perfect for a relaxing pint.

It is located within the former Saddle Grill Hotel and Hooked restaurant on Northumberland Street.

But until the time comes when restrictions allow guests to soak up the atmosphere again, they can at least sample the delights of the kitchen, which is headed up by renowned North East chef – and boss at The Potted Lobster in Bamburgh – Richard Sim.
