New wizard-themed rooms set to attract Harry Potter fans to Northumberland
Harry Potter fans are flocking to snap up new wizard-themed accommodation within sight of Alnwick Castle.
The castle starred as the magical Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry during the first two Harry Potter films.
And now, four boutique bedrooms are opening in Hallow and Crux, above a former nightclub next to The Dirty Bottles pub and restaurant on Narrowgate.
"We’ve been working hard during the past few months on expanding up from Oscars to create another four individually designed bedrooms with a wizarding theme based on Harry Potter,” said owner Mark Jones.
"We’ve already seen big demand ahead of their opening on May 17 and we’re anticipating huge demand over the summer ahead – especially from Harry Potter fans.”
The rooms are called The Marauders, Dumbledorm, The Chamber and Hogwarts Landing, the latter offering a rooftop view towards the castle.
Mark is also looking forward to the pub and restaurant reopening on May 17 in line with the latest easing of lockdown restrictions.
"It’s been a long wait, although we’ve had a lot going on here and our focus has been on getting that work done to the best of our ability,” he said.
"We’re looking forward to May 17. We wanted to open and be profitable while also giving our customers the best experience possible.”
The Dirty Bottles underwent a £400,000 refurbishment last year which doubled its capacity.
The revamp included the refurbishment of the kitchen and extension of the bar and dining areas to increase the number of covers to around 130.
The building dates back to the 17th century.
