The chain has announced that from today (Wednesday, January 6), all restaurants will only be open for drive thru and delivery only – with branches closed to dine-in and walk-in customers.
This means that all North East branches without a drive-thru will close to customers, providing only delivery services.

Click and Serve through the My McDonald’s app will also be available at many drive-thru restaurants, enabling customers to order in advance and have your order safely brought to their car window in a numbered bay.
McDonald’s has reminded customers that because they are working with smaller teams and social distancing in the kitchen it will take longer to serve.
McDonald’s UK CEO Paul Pomroy said: “Following the latest government announcements, our restaurants will remain open for Drive-Thru and McDelivery services and Click & Serve for Drive-Thru which is available via the My McDonald’s App.
"Our dine-in and walk-in takeaway services will be temporarily unavailable while we take time to review and reassess our safety procedures with an independent health and safety body.
"This is a temporary change in our operations to allow us to test and validate any additional measures that may further enhance the safety of our takeaway service.
“We will continue to keep customers updated via the My McDonald’s App and our website.”
