Barmoor Castle Country Park, near Lowick, is attracting interest from holidaymakers across the UK - and even Las Vegas.

The family-run site will reopen on Saturday, July 4 with stringent safety measures in place to keep the threat of Covid-19 at bay.

Owner Jamie Lamb said he is excited to open the park’s doors once again and hopes to see some new faces visit in the coming months.

He said: “It’s been a busy few months during lockdown as we have adapted the park to make sure we can implement the necessary social distancing measures once we reopen.

“It’s been an incredibly tough time for the country, but things are starting to open up again and it will be great to welcome guests to Barmoor Castle once again.

“We’ve had a huge spike in enquiries coming through our website from across the United Kingdom and beyond as lockdown hasn’t stopped people from dreaming about holidays.

“Domestic tourism will get a huge boost this year as a lot of people will be reluctant or unable to travel abroad.

“In Northumberland, we are lucky to have such beautiful countryside on our doorstep and I’m excited for more people to come and experience it for themselves.”

While popular beauty spots will be on alert with the threat of mass visitors raising the risk of further Covid-19 outbreaks, Jamie insists every effort will be made to ensure Barmoor Castle is safe.

He added: “I understand there may be concerns in communities over the perceived risk of virus outbreaks caused by increased visitor numbers.

“However, the vast nature of our 200-acre site and the space between our homes means Barmoor Castle lends itself perfectly to social distancing.

“We will be bringing in a range of new safety measures, including sanitising stations and temperature checks, and making sure our guests feel safe and comfortable at all times.

“Northumberland benefits a lot from tourism and it will be great to welcome people back, but we all must play our part in staying alert and helping to keep the virus at bay.”
