A host of measures are being put in place to ensure the attraction complies with social distancing requirements.

Mark Brassell, director of The Alnwick Garden, said: “I’m pleased to announce that after mindful consideration The Alnwick Garden will reopen on Wednesday, July 1.

“For the last few weeks, the team have been making careful decisions about how visitors will safely navigate the garden.

“We are in the process of redesigning our walkways and facilities to ensure everyone can adhere to social distancing measures whilst enjoying their visit.

“As always, our staff will be on hand to provide everyone with a warm welcome.”

He revealed that, for the foreseeable future, The Alnwick Garden will become a cash-free environment.

From Monday, June 15, visitors to its website will need to select a date and time slot when purchasing entrance tickets or rounds of adventure golf.

Friends of The Alnwick Garden will be able to book their tickets through a dedicated phone line.

“Limited takeaway refreshments and toilet facilities will be available, as well as access for all to the temporarily relocated Pinery gift shop and plant centre,” added Mr Brassell.

“For now, The Treehouse will unfortunately remain closed.

“We are anticpating a huge demand for tickets but want to reiterate to everyone that The Garden is in a continual state of growth and change.

“We will be operating at a reduced visitor capacity of less than 50% each day but given the ongoing fine weather we anticipate the Garden will look its best for months to come.

“Please do not attempt to visit The Garden without an online booking as anyone without a booking reference will not be admitted.”

The Alnwick Garden closed on March 23 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Over these last few months we’ve been humbled by your words of support,” said Mr Brassell. “We are very excited to be opening our days once again and we look forward to welcoming each and every one of you back to The Alnwick Garden.”
