Budget airline announces new Christmas market destinations from Newcastle
Jet2.com is selling tickets to two new destinations, as well as some old favourites over the Christmas period.
From November 20 to December 21, Monday and Friday departures to Hungarian capital Budapest are available. The city on the Danube is popular for its architecture.
Also available are return flights to the French city of Strasbourg, which sits on the River Rhine. Travellers will leave on Friday, November 27, returning on Sunday 29. Both destinations are renowned for their Christmas markets.
Jet2.com’s new programme also includes flights to Vienna, as well as dedicated two-night trips to German destinations Berlin, Nuremberg and Cologne, plus Copenhagen, Prague and Krakow in Poland.
Leon McQuaid, head of aviation development at Newcastle International Airport, said: “These special Christmas market trips are extremely popular with the North East travelling public.
“Budapest is a very sought-after city break, and I am sure that alongside Strasbourg these two new options will be very well received.
“We have had a lot of feedback from customers looking to visit Budapest, so it is brilliant that we can now offer this seasonal break with Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks, as they continue to invest in the region.”
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com said: “Our flights and city breaks to Europe’s most magical Christmas markets prove to be more and more popular from Newcastle Airport every year, and this latest programme promises to be our best yet.
Over half of Newcastle Airport is owned in equal parts by seven local authorities including Sunderland, Durham, South Tyneside and Northumberland.
