The venue, in the Old Town Hall on Market Place, is an important showcase for local artists in particular.

It has also been refurbished during the closure period.

Amanda Wooldridge, who also operates Squelch wellies from the gallery, said: “We used the time during lockdown to connect to more artists. We have got some really fantastic pieces in there.

"We want the gallery to be used as a platform to showcase the work of local artists and a few from further afield so we really hope people will come in and have a look at the changes we’ve made.”

An online tour showing the changes that have been made is available at http://tours.jbhdesign.co.uk/alnwickgallery

A meet the artist day is also being planned on Sunday, August 23.
