Songs from Grease to The Greatest Showman to be performed at outdoor concert in Northumberland

A unique socially-distanced outdoor musical event is being held at East Lilburn farmhouse, near Alnwick.

Summertime Songbook, a concert featuring a collection of reimagined musical theatre songs, is taking place from Friday, September 4 to Sunday, September 6.

The aim is to stage a ‘relaxed and inviting’ event while maintaining strict Covid-19 regulations, with attendees being sent clear and simple instructions upon and before arrival.

Performers from both Northumberland and further afield will be in attendance with a special appearance from West End performer and current star of the Book of Mormon European Tour, David Brewis.

Songs include selections from Grease, Disney classics, The Greatest Showman, Mamma Mia and more.

Organiser Michael Pearson, from Alnwick, said: “The event is the perfect way to showcase the talent we have in Northumberland, at a time when we need some relief and positivity.

“The community has come together during these unprecedented times and this seems like the perfect way to thank everyone, and we’re going to be giving back to those in need at the Alnwick District Food Bank.

“We’re working closely with Northumberland County Council and relevant authorities to make this work and their support has been extremely helpful and thorough to help us get off the ground."

Similar events have taken place across the North East in recent weeks, with Newcastle being host to the UK’s first major socially distanced gigs at the Virgin Money Unity Arena.

Tickets are priced at £10 (excluding the booking fee of £1.37) with a portion of the proceeds going to the Alnwick District Food Bank.

Each evening will feature two acts, both lasting around 50 minutes with a 15-minute interval.

The event is coordinated with the help of Northumberland County Council and will adhere to the Track and Trace system. Tickets are fully refundable in the event that the concert is cancelled.

The event is being run by WhistleWhack Productions LTD, which is a production company based in the north of England by Michael Pearson and Wendy Dickinson.
