Bamburgh to feature on BBC One's Countryfile after crew film in Northumberland - here's when you can watch it

Presenters Matt Baker and Anita Rani recently spent two days filming around the village.

They interviewed Bamburgh Castle owner Francis Watson Armstrong and members of the castle’s staff.

They also spoke to representatives from Coast Care, Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Graeme Young, director of the Bamburgh Research Project.

The programme synopsis states: ‘Matt Baker and Anita Rani are in Northumberland in the beautiful coastal village and ancient English royal kingdom of Bamburgh.

‘Matt is busy in the castle, which covers nine acres, discovering what it takes to safeguard it from the elements, while Anita digs into the secrets of bones dating back to the seventh century.

‘Tom Heap investigates the new trend of escaping the city for the country – but at what cost? And on the farm, Adam goes head to head with his actor neighbour Robert Llewellyn to discover how green machines measure up to traditional diesel.’

Researchers got in touch with Bamburgh Parish Council last month about filming an episode in the village.

The Countryfile team previously visited Bamburgh Castle as part of a Christmas special in 2016 and also in 2010.

The team visited Amble in 2018 and Northumberland also featured in the 2018 Christmas special with the spotlight on the Bird and Bush pub and First and Last microbrewery in Elsdon.

The episode will be broadcast on BBC One on Sunday, August 16 at 7pm.
