Fusion artists meets regularly to give mutual support, advice, and encouragement about each other’s work. They engage in practical workshops at least once a year, and regularly exhibit together.

While all 13 members of the group often work towards a common theme, each artist has a different approach to creating their contemporary textile artwork – producing a range of work which is diverse in both technique and interpretation.

The theme of ‘Lost Words’ has given much scope for interpreting lettering and written work in a variety of exciting ways, from the patterns created by free-flowing handwriting to the more formal elements of graphic design, and incorporating paint, paper and hand and machine stitching.

Their work also notes the rapidly changing world and our use of words, with the printed word on the page becoming less common.

Lost Words will be displayed from September 11 to October 27 (closed Mondays). Entry is included in the museum admission. Pricing: £6 Adults, £5 for Concessions, £1 for ages 5-16s and under 5s free.
