Alnmouth Arts Festival planned for summer 2021 cancelled due to Covid concerns

Next year’s Alnmouth Arts Festival has been cancelled due to Covid-related concerns.

It is the second year in a row the popular event is not taking place.

The festival, which is traditionally held in June, provides a showcase for around 70 artists and attracts a large number of visitors.

Alnmouth Arts Festival, in a statement on social media, explained: ‘Although news of a vaccine brings much needed positivity, we feel that there still remains some uncertainty as to whether mass gatherings will be able to take place during the summer of next year.

‘We are also very conscious that exhibitors need sufficient advance notice of the event in order to build up a stock of work and plan for the festival.

‘Consequently, after much discussion and with obvious regret, we feel that the right thing to do is to postpone our much loved event until 2022, when hopefully we will be able to plan the festival with certainty and everything will be back to normal.’
