Alnwick Sings Celebration. Alnwick District has a rich tradition of choral music of all styles and, once again, many of the local choirs and ensembles come together to showcase their talents. Groups already signed up include the Rock Festival Choir, Playhouse Community Choir, Bailiffgate Singers, Alnwick Choral Society, Lionheart Harmony, The King’s Men, The Duchess’s High School Choirs and The Dukes Middle School. Rent. Alnwick Playhouse Middle Youth Theatre performs Rent, a musical based on Puccini’s opera La Bohme which tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists in New York’s Lower East Side. Brinkburn Music Festival. The festival opens tomorrow night with a performance by one of the world’s leading violinists, Henning Kraggerud, from 7.30pm. Tickets £20/£15. On Saturday, at 7pm, vocal ensemble Stile Antico will perform choral masterpieces of the Tudor era. Tickets for this range from £28 to £15. At noon on Sunday, flautist Katy Bircher plays music for solo flute by JS Bach, CPE Bach and Telemann. Tickes are £15/£12. This will be followed at 2pm by a concert by the Gabrieli Consort and Players. Tickets range from £36 to £20. The festival concludes at 6pm with a free Choral Evensong.
