The Youth Theatre is the place to be in 2015

Alnwick Playhouse Youth Theatre is looking forward to a series of exciting projects in 2015.

The senior group has been selected for National Theatre Connections, which is a national festival of new writing and young theatre making.

As part of this project, Youth Theatre members will premiere a new play, The Boy Preference, at the Playhouse, on Saturday, March 14, and then as part of the regional festival of Northern Stage on Saturday, May 2.

A free National Theatre workshop on The Boy Preference takes place at the Playhouse on Sunday, from noon to 2pm, for anyone who is interested and aged 13 to 19. Casting and scripts will be given out on Sunday, December 14, from 11am to 1pm, and rehearsals start on Sunday, January 11, 2015.

Meanwhile, the mini and junior groups have been successful in a bid to Arts Council England for a story-telling project.

It will involve working with a visual artist to build the Playhouse’s own story-telling chair and include e a visit from a professional storyteller. Details are being confirmed.

Term restarts on January 17. The Mini group will meet on Saturday mornings from 10am to 11.15am, while the Juniors will be on Sundays from 9.30am to 11.30am.
