An experimental theatre and dance company will bring its latest multi-sensory show to a seaside village as part of its national tour.
Moving Dust is to perform Sometimes There’s Light (Sometimes There’s Dark) in Alnmouth’s Hindmarsh Hall on Sunday, November 9, from 4pm.
The company is being supported by Berwick Maltings and Berwick Visual Arts and the show will premiere at the town’s Gymnasium Gallery the evening before the Alnmouth date.
Moving Dust will hold a free practical workshop for 16 to 25-year-olds at The Maltings prior to the Berwick performance. Attendees will receive a free ticket to the show that night.
Sometimes There’s Light (Sometimes There’s Dark) blends contemporary dance with lyrical text in a sculptural light installation, bringing audiences into the heart of the work. It provides the chance to experience dance up close and will uncover the fragile story of love and loss trapped in the heartbeat at the centre of every life.
A company spokeswoman said: “This cross-artform work draws on the experience of borderlands, between countries and between sea and land, to create a meditation on the fluid boundaries between life and death and our experience of loss and grieving.
“Our aim is that engagement with the project will have a lasting effect on people’s own encounters with grief, by allowing us more freedom to express our emotional experiences of loss.”
The show is suitable for those aged 16 and over.
Moving Dust creates experimental performance with an international pool of long-term collaborators. Its work spans a range of mediums and has been performed across the UK.
