Star Quality, NTC tour kicks off with performances at Alnwick Playhouse on Friday, February 25, and Saturday, February 26, both at 7.30pm. THE curtain is about to come up on a fun-filled family show, packed with sparkle, glitter and music.
Alnwick-based Northumberland Theatre Company (NTC) is set to embark on a month-long tour across the county, and beyond, with its latest show Star Quality.
The play sees 20-year-old Geordie singer Julian King hotly tipped to win a glittering Saturday night TV spectacular.
But why does he flee the production company that is owned by super-impresario, Martin Powell? And for what reason is the eccentric shopkeeper, with whom he hides, desperate that he should make the grand finale?
The show is penned for NTC by local writer Barry Stone.
He said: “The play has a serious subtext, but as directed by Gillian Hambleton, it will sparkle with Saturday night glitter and vitality. Plus it contains wonderful songs from the sixties and seventies.”
The show, with a cast of five actors, will also go to:
Bamburgh Pavilion (March 1),
The Maltings, Berwick (March 3),
Morpeth Town Hall (March 18),
Glanton Village Hall (March 19),
Etal Village Hall (March 25),
Longhirst Village Hall (March 26),
...as well as performances in venues further afield including Norfolk, Lancashire and North Yorkshire.
