A local touring theatre group will be taking its annual Christmas show on the road next week.

The Northumberland Theatre Company is taking its new production of The Ugly Duckling on a 30-day-plus tour from next Wednesday. It’s first performance taking place at the Alnwick Playhouse studio.

The story is a new re-worked version of Hans Christian Andersen’s story by acclaimed children’s writer Neil Duffield.

The cast of just four actors will take to the road visiting small and rural venues with songs, dances and visual treats, which will delight audiences of all ages.

Director Gilliam Hambleton said: “Our Christmas show is always very popular and this year is no different.”

This is a funny and heart-warming story about a young duckling and her attempt to discover her real place in the icy winter world, despite the meddling of many different characters along the way.

The show on Wednesday is at 7.30pm. Tickets are from £6.50. Visit www.alnwickplayhouse.co.uk or contact 01665 510 785 for details.
