A new play is to be staged in Northumberland, written by one of its own.
Northumberland Theatre Company (NTC) will only be showing its new production, Rallying Round, at six different venues as the touring group has scaled down its work due to funding cuts last year.
The play has been written by Stewart Howson, a well-known face in the NTC group, and a resident of Guyzance.
Stewart has appeared in Love Actually, Thunderbirds, Byker Grove, Emmerdale and many more television productions.
Rallying Round is told in Howson’s own inimitable style – laugh-out-loud funny and at the same time extremely moving.
It tells the story of old soldier Airchie, who cons his young ‘carer’ Kev into giving him a lift...to Monte Carlo!
It is a journey he used to make annually in his classic rally car with his old ‘oppo Dougie – although it seems Airchie is pretty hazy about the route and even their destination.
A comedy/drama ride about an unusual modern friendship with no power steering and the rear-view mirror set to 1944, it is a story about youth, age and two very different worlds meeting with compassion.
The play will be performed at the following venues anddates:
Wednesday, June 19 at the Hindmarsh Hall, Alnmouth tickets 01665 830894;
Friday, June 21 at Morpeth Town Hall, tickets 01670 510743;
Saturday, June 22 at Glanton Memorial Hall, tickets 01665 578229.
