This year’s Alnwick Food Festival, the 9th annual event, earned rave reviews frolocals, visitors and stallholders alike.

Joanne Welsh, of Cupcake and Co, said: “There is a really good buzz about the place and we have done really well.

“It is the fifth year we have been here and we love doing this one.”

Sandy Higson, owner of the Mad Jam Woman, said: “We have come right from the start and we have never had a bad year.

“I wouldn’t miss Alnwick Food Festival for the world, I always big it up, it’s my favourite one to do.”

Karen Wilkin, of Swallowfish at Seahouses, said: “It has been absolutely cracking. It has been very busy and we had a lot of good customer feedback. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.”

Rebecca Loban, of the French Oven, said: “I think it is a lovely festival, there is a really good atmosphere and we had a really good time. On Saturday we had three focaccias, three frangipans and a pain au choclat left out of 130 loaves, 50 cakes and 50 pain au chocolats.”
