A choir will be holding a fund-raising concert for a life-saving charity which came to the aid of one of its members after a motorbike crash.

When Gordon Castle, one of the tenors with the Bailiffgate Singers, was badly hurt in a road accident last year, the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) came speedily to his rescue.

As a result, the group wanted to collect cash for the GNAAS at its concert on Wednesday, which takes place at Alnwick’s St James’ URC, on Pottergate, from 7.30pm.

The choir will be singing works by Purcell and various Northumbrian folk songs.

Tickets, £7 including refreshments, are available from Penrose & Son, in Alnwick, or on the door.
