Rude, crude and downright hilarious – Roy Chubby Brown served up an oversized dose of his outrageous, no-holds bared comedy at Alnwick Playhouse.

The funnyman is known for his controversial gags, and he certainly didn’t disappoint on Sunday night. In true Chubby fashion, the foul-mouthed, uncompromising jokes came thick and fast, complete with the usual dose of sexism, racism and blue humour. His routine was packed with smutty songs, razor-sharp one-liners and effortlessly-funny anecdotes, climaxing with a larger-than-life striptease.

Despite being 70 and having been in the game for more than four decades, his Alnwick appearance proved that Chubby has still got it. Sure, his comedy is not for everybody, but the fact that the Playhouse was close to full on Sunday, on the back of his sell-out show at the venue on Saturday, proves there is still a demand to see him.

It also proved that there is a market for this type of comedy in Alnwick. The Sunday night crowd was certainly in full spirit and joined in with the foul-mouthed chanting to welcome him on stage – a typical feature of his shows.

And with Chubby in red-hot form, shooting from the hip and pulling no punches, his fans would surely have been satisfied by his latest offering.
