New cookery book stirs up excitement at launch event

A large crowd turned out for the launch of a new cook book by Amble’s St Cuthbert’s Parish Church.

The event was staged on Saturday and more than 100 copies of Recipes @ St Cuthbert’s were sold on the day.

Dishes in the book have been compiled by members and friends of the congregation.

As part of the launch event, Adam Robson, executive sous chef at The Alnwick Garden’s Treehouse, performed a cooking demonstration of one of his recipes from the book.

Meg Dixon, who has been involved with the project, said: “Adam’s relaxed, humorous style was very well received and we are very grateful to him for helping us make our launch the huge success it was.

“Various recipes featured in the book were also available for people to taste.

“So in the relaxed atmosphere, with a glass of wine in hand, people chatted to the contributors, as they tasted their recipes. This brilliant idea gave everyone the chance to ask any questions before trying the recipe for themselves at home.

“The launch proved to be an amazing event and it was attended by a great crowd.

“More than 100 books were sold on the day, which gives us a great start. We believe the book will be a great little stocking filler for Christmas.”

Recipes @ St Cuthbert’s is on sale for £5.

Profits made from the book will be divided between the church and the Myanmar (Burma) Health Worker Training Programme.

The books are now on sale at a number of venues in Amble, including N&F Young Decorators, Strands gift shop, Nu.U. Hairdressers and Spurreli Boutique Ice Cream.

They will also be available via mail order.
