One of the stars of an Abba tribute show, which is coming to Alnwick in two weeks’ time, has promised audiences that it will be a party.
Waterloo – The Best of Abba Tribute Show comes to the Playhouse on Friday and Saturday, May 15 and 16, at 8pm.
Speaking to the Gazette, Rob Miles, who is Bjorn in the group, said: “It’s a party, that’s the best way to describe it.
“It’s two hours of non-stop Abba hits. I’m sure people will get up and dance and have a good time.”
The show is a brand-new production for 2015, with a tour that started in January and runs right through into next year, so ‘not many people have seen it’.
Rob said that what has struck audiences and critics so far is the authenticity of the performance, with attention paid to every detail.
Thousands have been spent on handmade costumes, the front four ‘look uncannily like Abba as people remember them’ and they are backed by an excellent live band.
Rob admits that when he started 15 years ago, as a session musician, it wasn’t that cool to like Abba and admit it to your mates.
“The music just grew on me and over time they have become really quite acclaimed, particularly due to the fact they haven’t reformed,” he said. “I’m most certainly a fan now, otherwise I wouldn’t be doing it.”
Tickets, costing £18.50 or £19.50 premier, are available from the Playhouse box office, on 01665 510785 or online at www.alnwickplayhouse.co.uk
