World-famous DJ Judge Jules says his set at an Alnwick nightspot will be all about spontaneity and he will feed off the crowd.

And general admission tickets to see the iconic dance music DJ have nearly sold out for Saturday night’s appearance at I Won’t Tell.

Famed for his Radio 1 show, the 46-year-old can draw on more than a quarter-of-a-century’s experience, having started DJing professionally in 1987.

But he has no set track list for the I Won’t Tell gig and is preparing to go with the flow on the evening. And he said his set will last around an hour-and-a-half to two hours.

“Except for the very largest of festivals where you need to do something more planned, it is good to be spontaneous and play what is right on the night,” he said.

“I think spontaneity works,” he added.

“I’ve got tonnes of records that I really love – too many to play in one night, but that’s not a bad situation to be in.”

Incredibly, the Judge is at Ibiza’s Eden nightclub tomorrow night, for Judgement Fridays, and is then appearing in Alnwick the following evening. He is looking forward to coming to I Won’t Tell.

“It is good to go to new places. I am looking forward to it and I think it is important to do a range of different venues,” he said. “The North East as a region never lets you down.”

Having been in the industry for more than 25 years, the Judge has seen the evolution of dance music. He believes it is in a strong position currently.

“My area has been new music and I think it is a very good time for music at the moment,” he said.

The Judge comes on the back of Tinchy Stryder and Jack Eye Jones performing at the Alnwick venue.

Mark Jones, from I Won’t Tell, said Jules’ upcoming gig has created a buzz and is attracting people from the likes of Newcastle, Berwick and even Oxford.

Tickets, £8.50, are available from I Won’t Tell during opening hours, Hotspur Residential, Alnwick, or Zecca, Amble, or online at www.1066music.com.

Last week, the Gazette teamed up with the club to give away a pair of VIP tickets.

The winner is Catherine Sykes, from Longhoughton, who correctly said that Eden is the Ibiza nightclub which hosts Judgement Fridays.
