A singer described as having the sweetest voice in England by a country megastar will be playing a house-concert in north Northumberland on Saturday.
Edwina Hayes is performing at St Cuthbert’s House in Seahouses at 7.45pm with doors open at 7pm..
She has some discerning fans – she’s featured regularly on Radio 2 by Alex Lester, who asked her to play at his wedding ceremony recently, and Michael Parkinson particularly.
She has opened shows on tours alongside Jools Holland and Van Morrison, and the title track of her album Pour Me A Drink was recorded by country-music megastar Nanci Griffith, who calls her ‘the sweetest voice in England’.
Edwina’s cover of the Randy Newman song Feels Like Home was featured in the Cameron Diaz film My Sister’s Keeper, and has since had more than five million plays on YouTube. Plus she was invited to perform the song at The Royal Albert Hall at the Carols With The Stars charity concert.
Her gigs are simple and gentle affairs, where she combines her gift for sharing a good story, with songs from her own extensive catalogue and from some of her friends and collaborators.
Her achingly beautiful voice is sure to be heard at its best in the intimate setting of this house-concert. Tickets are £10, call 01665 720456.
