Budding choristers can learn from expert

A chorister taster day is being held in Alnwick this weekend.

On Saturday children aged between six and 10 can try their hand at being a Durham Cathedral Chorister for the day at St Michael’s Church.

Durham Cathedral’s master of the choristers and organist Dr James Lancelot said: “It’s a fun day, open to any child who is enthusiastic about singing. They don’t need to have any previous experience, just a desire to learn more.”

It runs from 2pm to 4pm, and those children taking part in the workshop will sing with the cathedral choir for a 30-minute service at 4pm, to which parents and friends are warmly invited.
