An award-winning bed and breakfast is bringing world-class professional musicians to play intimate house-concerts for small audiences – starting this weekend.

St Cuthbert’s House, in Seahouses, is hosting the gigs in its imposing guest lounge, which was previously the sanctuary of this converted church building.

On Saturday, Reg Meuross will perform. He was recently introduced onstage at the Royal Albert Hall by Mike Harding as ‘one of the best singer-songwriters this country has produced’.

Then on Saturday, March 9, it will be the turn of Yvonne Lyon, a Scottish singer presently featuring heavily on Radio 2. Her music has been described as ‘stunning’.

Owners of St Cuthbert’s House, Jeff and Jill Sutheran, are musicians who have recorded and played on several CDs themselves and have long harboured a desire to bring live music to the venue.

“We know that this is a superb room for live music and we’re really excited to be putting on these house-concerts, which will give a small audience a chance to get up close and personal with great musicians,” said Jeff.

The concerts form part of special weekends for guests, offering a two-night stay for £200, plus the music.

A limited number of tickets are also available to the public for each concert and are priced £10 each.
