An uncanny tribute to glam-rock hero

Children of the revolution from north Northumberland are in for a musical treat at the end of this month.

T*Rextasy, who perform at Alnwick Playhouse on Friday, October 25, is the only band to have been authorised and endorsed by Marc Bolan’s Catalogue Management and is officially recognised as the world’s number one group dedicated to the greatest glam rocker of them all, Marc Bolan of T.Rex.

On September 8, 1972, a record that would inspire future generations was released by one of the most flamboyant and charismatic bands of the original glam rock era.

Marc Bolan and T.Rex stormed the charts with one of his most memorable and distinctive songs of that decade – Children of the Revolution.

More than 40 years on, the song has become iconic and legendary, along with Bolan’s other best-selling anthems of that year, which included Metal Guru and Telegram Sam.

With the uncanny doppelganger lead singer and lead guitarist, Danielz, T*Rextasy performs a powerful and mesmerising presentation of Mark Bolan’s rock and pop anthems.

Danielz was also the lead singer in 1980s rock band, Tarazara and has recorded with Paul King, of Mungo Jerry, and Martin Dobson, from Eurythmics, among others.

His message is: “No one can ever take Marc’s place, no one could ever be that naive. Treat T.Rextasy as a band of today, playing Marc’s music as faithfully as possible and recreating that special energy and performance.”

The group has now been performing around the world for 20 years, a career that outlives the original T.Rex.

The band has been described by many as ‘beyond the boundaries of tribute’ and is respected in its own right. Truly a rock’n’roll concert for all ages – this show is for those who remember Marc Bolan’s concerts in the 1970s and those who want to discover what it was like.

I Love To Boogie with T*Rextasy is on at Alnwick Playhouse on Friday, October 25, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £18.50, £17.50 conc, £19.50 premier, available from the box office, 01665 510785,or online at www.alnwickplayhouse.co.uk
