The Playhouse and Alnwick Music Society present a recital of works by Schubert, Shostakovich and Mozart performed by the Danish String Quartet.
This young quartet won the Danish Radio Chamber Competition in 2004, a mere two years after their debut in Coepnhagen.
Described as ‘a smorgasbord of strings served with youthful vigour and sensejolting spices’ in the New York Times, they built upon their homeland success winning awards across Europe.
And in 2009 the foursome won the 11th London International String Competition.
The programme includes Schubert’s Quartettsatz, Mozart’s Quartet KV465 – Dissonance and Quartet No 2 by Shostakovich.
