Northumberland Village Varieties returns to Warkworth this year on Easter Saturday, April 19, and performers from two top circuses have joined the line-up.

The show’s artistic director Chris Cross, a magician and escapologist, is excited that he has a slice of Moscow State and Gerry Cottle’s circuses appearing.

Oxana Bugrova worked with her sister in a multi-award winning act, The Bugrova Sisters, who have performed in Japan, Sweden, Italy, Portugal, Russia and many other countries.

Now, she and her father, also a world-renowned circus act, recently touring with Zippo’s Circus, will both join an ensemble of other acclaimed acts.

Chris said: “This really is a big show is such a small place, but we like that.

“It’s nice to perform an intimate gig after supporting big bands in arenas and gigging at the biggest festivals in the world internationally.

“We want to keep entertainment alive and bring the cream of the cabaret crop to Northumberland.”

As well as Chris’ performance, there will be comedy, juggling and music and the show will be compered by Alfie Joey from BBC Radio Newcastle.

The show, which takes place at Warkworth Memorial Hall, starts at 7.30pm.

Tickets, costing £7.50, are available at the Village Post Office or
