A festive event to remember loved ones and an exclusive advent concert are taking place in aid of HospiceCare North Northumberland.
The charity, which has bases in both Alnwick and Berwick, will be holding its annual Light up a Life ceremonies for people to sponsor a light in memory of a loved one who has passed away.
The Light up a Life services are free to attend and take place at locations across north Northumberland.
Anyone wishing to sponsor a light can do so by picking up a form from the hospice and making a dedication, which will also be included in a book of remembrance. Services take place at the charity’s base at Hazel Marsden House, Berwick, on Monday, December 8 at 6.30pm; Alnwick’s hopice base at Casteside House, Narrowgate on Tuesday, December 9, at 6.30pm; Seahouses on Wednesday, December 10 (contact the hospice for more information on place and time); St Cuthbert’s Parish Hall, Amble, on Thursday, December 11 at 6pm and The Cheviot Centre, Wooler, on Friday, December 12, at 6.30pm.

HospiceCare North Northumberland has also been given exclusive and unique access to the private chapel within Alnwick Castle, to host an Advent Concert on Tuesday, December 2.
Rock Festival Choir will lead the concert performing advent carols, some traditonal and some new. Andrew Watchhorn will be entertaining guests when they arrive with music from his Northumbrian pipes.
The evening starts at 6.30pm with drinks and canapés in the Lower Guard Chamber and there will also be a talk about the history of the chapel.
Rebecca Taylor, event fund-raiser at HospiceCare North Northumberland, said: “We are delighted that His Grace, the Duke of Northumberland has kindly offered the Chapel to hold the first-ever concert at this venue. It will be a very special evening .”
