Inspiring tale of pilot told by TV presenter

The heroic and fascinating story of a Second World War fighter pilot will be brought to life next month.

Television presenter and newsreader Jan Leeming will give a talk about Renee Mouchotte at Alnwick’s Barter Books.

Mouchotte was a pilot of the French Air Force who escaped from Vichy French–controlled Oran to join the Free French forces.

Serving with RAF Fighter Command, he rose to command a fighter wing and received Distinguished Flying Cross. He was killed in combat in 1943.

The talk starts at 7.30pm on Thursday, April 10. There will be wine and nibbles afterwards with Leeming, who has researched the story over many years. Entry is £5. To book, call 01665 604888.
