Nominations will close tomorrow for Northumberland’s celebration of leisure and entertainment.

The awards, held in association with the Johnston North East Press weekly entertainments guide, Wow 24/7, aim to celebrate and reward the best facilities throughout Northumberland.

The range of categories include Recreation Facility/Children’s Venue of the Year, Independent Boutique, Spa or Hairdresser and Self-Catering Holiday Provider Award.

The Banks Group, which develops land for residential property, surface coal mining and renewable energy, is sponsoring the event.

Mark Dowdall, environment and community director at The Banks Group, said: “The Banks Group is very proud to be sponsoring the Northumberland What’s On Where Awards.

“Our ‘development with care’ approach ensures that Banks Group’s projects have a positive social, economic and environmental effect upon the communities that host our developments.

“We employ around 420 people – with over 200 based at our surface coal mining operations in Northumberland.

“We have been in business since 1976 and are proud of our north east based business and its track record. We are particularly proud to be the company that worked in partnership with Blagdon Estate to develop and construct Northumberlandia, the award-winning public land art sculpture that is attracting thousands of visitors a year. We wish all the entrants the best of luck.”

Entries close tomorrow. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Newton Hall on March 19.
