Otterburn will also be hosting special Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve menus devised by the celebrity chef.

Burton-Race, who has been appointed consultant chef for the hotel, said: “I am a huge fan of the whole of Northumberland, but Otterburn in particular has really captured my heart.

“The range and quality of ingredients on the doorstep of Otterburn Castle are unique to the area.

“It’s a testament to variety of food on offer that we can cook each evening with the freshest ingredients that have been picked, foraged and sourced that day.

“I am looking forward to bringing that food to these seasonal dinners and celebrating winter in Otterburn.”

Celebrity chef John Burton-Race began his career working for renowned chef Raymond Blanc at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in Buckinghamshire.

He went on to work at some of the country’s top restaurants including Quaglino’s and Hotel Meurice London before winning his first Michelin star at Raymond Blanc’s Le Petit Blanc in Oxford in 1996.

Burton-Race opened his own restaurant L’Ortolan in Berkshire, winning two Michelin stars.

He repeated the success at his second venue, John Burton-Race Restaurant at the Landmark Hotel in 2000.
